If you suspect that something is amiss with your car’s heater core, watch for these signs:

Car heater not working at idle. As you drive faster the vacuum increases and will provide enough pressure to move the damper but at idle with the vacuum leak not enough pressure there to move it. Your in the right place, we’re going to take care of that right now. There are a few things that could cause this, depending on the type of car you have.

If the valve is not opening up, check the vacuum hose to it for any leaks. Then check the heater control valve and see if its opening up when the temperature is at operating temperature. Allow the engine to idle until all the air is purged from the cooling system, and nothing but coolant comes out.

The heater core has engine. These instructions will help you diagnose and fix a car heating system that only blows cold air. The key was to finally locate the source of obdii code po 0171, left bank lean, which i realize was not part of my original question.

Loosen the upper radiator hose clamp and slip a small flat bladed screwdriver in between the radiator hose and the hose neck on the radiator. Trapped air can be in the core, but it blows out with increased water pump pressure. The lack of heat being generated by your system may indicate a clogged heater core.

Hope you get your heating fixed :) Radiators that are clogged can cause a car to overheat. Frankie on may 04, 2018:

Also check the actuators pointed in pic and see if the door actually opens on the one closest to the heater core. If the coolant level should drop as the thermostat opens, top it up as necessary. Been told my fiesta 03 radiator is blocked do i need to replace the radiator
